Life has a way of making us forget.

One difficult season. One unexpected diagnosis. One financial setback. One broken relationship. One unanswered prayer. Suddenly, years of God's faithfulness seem distant, and fear starts preaching louder than truth.

That's exactly where Daniel found himself in Daniel 2. King Nebuchadnezzar demanded the impossible: not just an interpretation of his dream, but the dream itself. Every wise man in Babylon was sentenced to die—including Daniel. Under unimaginable pressure, Daniel did something most men don't.

He remembered.

He gathered his friends to pray. He sought God before reacting. And when God answered, Daniel worshiped before he worked. Before he spoke to the king, he spoke about God. 

Pressure has a way of exposing what we actually trust. Culture tells us to control everything, fix everything, stay busy, stay angry, and stay anxious. Daniel shows us a better way. He reminds us that worship recalibrates perspective. The circumstances hadn't changed—but Daniel had.

In this episode, we unpack three gritty truths about remembering God:

1. Remember Who God Is — Your view of God determines your view of everything else. When God becomes small, problems become enormous. When God becomes great, problems become opportunities for Him to move.

2. Remember What God Has Done — One of Satan's greatest weapons is spiritual amnesia. Faith remembers what fear forgets.

3. Remember Before You React — Daniel prayed before he spoke, worshiped before he worked, and remembered before he responded. Wise men don't let emotions lead them. They let truth lead them.

Ultimately, Daniel remembered God's faithfulness. We remember something even greater—the cross. Every time fear whispers that God has forgotten you, Calvary reminds you that He never will. The empty tomb is God's permanent declaration that He always keeps His promises.

How Men Cultivate Remembrance:

• Start every day with the Gospel. Before your phone, remember the cross. 
• Keep a record of God's faithfulness. Write down answered prayers, victories, and moments of grace. 
• Preach truth to yourself. Don't just listen to yourself—talk to yourself. 
• Worship before you worry. Worship restores perspective. 

Because the men who stand firm in uncertain times...

are usually the men who remember God most clearly.

When Pressure Makes You Forget

God's faithfulness, forget his promises, forget his power, forget his character and his goodness. It's amazing how quickly uh one difficult season, you know, one doctor's report, one prodigal child, financial setback or a broken relationship can make us forget years of God's faithfulness. And the pressure gets louder and suddenly our memory gets shorter. And that's exactly where Daniel finds himself. Only this time, forgetting could cost him his life. You see,

Fear Grows Where Memory Fades

fear grows where memory fades. So King Nebuchadnezzar has a dream and he wakes up disturbed, so disturbed that he demands the impossible. He gathers every wise man in Babylon and says, I don't just want you to interpret my dream. I want you to tell me what I dreamed. Impossible. The wise men tell him no king has ever asked this. And but Nebuchadnezzar doesn't care. He flies into a rage. His command is simple: kill every wise man in Babylon. I mean, he loses his mind. Daniel's name is on the list. Imagine waking up one morning and because of someone else's problem, you're about to die. That's pressure. But listen, man, like pressure

Pressure Exposes

has a way of exposing what we actually trust. You lose your job, what do you trust? Your marriage gets hard, what do you trust? Your child starts making destructive decisions. What do you trust? The doctor calls, what do you trust? The economy crashes, what do you trust? Culture teaches us that control is everything. You know, fix everything, manipulate everything, stay busy, stay distracted, stay angry, stay anxious, stay medicated. And Daniel shows us something completely different. The pressure doesn't create your foundation, it reveals it. And in Daniel chapter 2, 17 through

18, it says this that Daniel goes home, he calls his friends together and he asks them to pray. Notice what he doesn't do. He doesn't panic, he doesn't isolate, he doesn't complain, he doesn't blame God. In chapter 2,

Prayer Was Daniel's First Response

it says he prays. Prayer was Daniel's first response, not his last resort. Panic is often the first response of self-sufficiency. Uh, panic is often, again, the first response of self-sufficiency. Prayer is the first response of dependence. So God answers, the mystery is revealed. And now watch what happens. Daniel could have sprinted to the king. He could have celebrated, he could have taken the credit. Instead, he worships. And before he speaks to Nebuchadnezzar, he speaks about God. In Daniel chapter 2, verse 20, he says,

May the name of God be praised forever and ever. That matters because Daniel understood something. Before you focus on your problem, you need to remember your God. You don't need to let your problem preach louder than your God. So listen to Daniel's prayer. Wisdom belongs to him. He says power belongs to him. He changes the times and seasons. He removes kings. He establishes kings. He reveals mysteries. See, Daniel's Daniel's not reminded, he isn't just reminding God who he is. He's reminding himself who God is. So worship recalibrates perspective. The circumstances didn't change, but Daniel did. Listen, strong men remember God's character before they react to their circumstances. So let me give

Point 1: Remember Who God Is

y'all three truths. Number one, remember who God is. Daniel begins with God, not Babylon, not the deadline, not the fear, God. Because your view of God determines your view of everything else. And when God becomes small, problems become enormous. And when God becomes great, problems become opportunities for him to move. And your problems grow when your view of God shrinks. So, men, listen, what has your attention? The headlines or heaven? The economy or eternity? Your circumstances or God's sovereignty?

Point 2: Remember What God Has Done

Number two, remember what God has done. Daniel knew Israel's history. Um, he knows their story, the Red Sea, the manna dropping from heaven, Jericho, David, the prophets, again, again, again, again. God had proven himself faithful. So when another impossible situation arrived, Daniel remembered who he could go to to interpret the dream to the king. One of Satan's greatest weapons, y'all, is spiritual amnesia. He wants you to forget the prayers that God answered. He wants you to forget the addiction that he broke. He wants you to forget the marriage that he restored. He wants you to forget the doors that opened. He wants you to forget the grace he gave, the mercy he showed, because men who

Men Who Forget God's Faithfulness Start Doubting God's Future

forget God's faithfulness start doubting God's future. But listen, faith remembers what fear forgets. So men, stop asking, has God ever been faithful and start remembering he has never failed you? Number three, remember

Point 3: Remember Before You React

before you react. Daniel prayed before he spoke. He worshiped before he worked. He remembered before he responded. And most men react first, text first, complain first, quit first, pose first, get angry first. I'm very much the get angry first and react person. But Daniel remembered first because remembering changes how we respond. A man who remembers God's faithfulness won't be mastered by his feelings.

Don't Be Mastered By Your Feelings

Before you send the text, remember. Before you make the decision, remember. Before you quit, remember. Before you panic, remember. So maybe a few ways on how men

How Men Cultivate Remembrance

can cultivate remembrance. Number one, start every day with the gospel. Remember the cross. Remember what Jesus did 2,000 years ago on the cross, and don't ever let it become stale. Start with the gospel every day. Number two, keep a record of God's faithfulness. Write it down. Remember to answer prayers. Remember victories. Remember his grace in your life. Just this morning, I was praying, and when I was thanking God, I use the Axe uh the Axe acronym that says adoration, um, confession, thanksgiving, and supplication. And as I was looking at my thanksgiving, I just remember just writing a list of things I'm grateful for. And it reminds me of his faithfulness. Number three, preach truth to yourself. Don't just listen to yourself, don't just talk to yourself. Remind yourself of who God is. Remind yourself of the truth of scripture that if he was faithful then, he will be faithful now. And number four, worship before you worry. Worry worship restores perspective. Listen, ultimately, Daniel remembered God's faithfulness, but we remember something greater, the cross. And why worry when you know that your debt has been paid? God, Christ died up on the cross to set you free. And God was not shaking in his boots. He was proud of his son for going to the cross. And when we worship him, when I worship the Lord, man, worry's still gonna wage war. Worry's still gonna try to knock me off my game. But man, when I choose worship over worry, when I choose gratitude over grumbling, it changes everything. Listen, every time fear whispers God has forgotten you, remember Calvary.

The Cross Is God's Permanent Reminder

Every time anxiety says you're alone, remember the empty tomb. Every time life feels uncertain, remember the greatest certainty in history. That Jesus died for sinners. Jesus rose from the grave, Jesus reigns today. Listen, the cross is God's eternal reminder that he has never stopped being faithful. So while Daniel resolved to be a man of conviction, he also remembered. So listen, men, what have you forgotten? His goodness, his power, his presence, his promise, his grace. Before you look at your problems, remember how big God is. And Daniel remembered, and because he remembered, he didn't panic, he prayed, he worshiped, and he trusted. Listen, guys, don't let fear shape the future. Let God's faithfulness shape your perspective. The men who stand
