Spiritual warfare is real—but so is the victory of Jesus.

There are moments when the battle feels invisible. Temptation seems relentless. Fear creeps in without warning. Accusation whispers louder than truth. It can leave us wondering, Is the enemy winning? Can Satan somehow derail God's plan for my life? Paul answers those questions with unmistakable confidence in Romans 8:38. Neither angels, nor rulers, nor powers—no spiritual force in heaven or on earth—has the authority to separate God's children from His love. 

Paul isn't denying the reality of spiritual warfare. He knows the battle is real. But he also knows the outcome has already been decided. The devil is dangerous, but he is not sovereign. He is powerful, but he is not all-powerful. The cross disarmed the powers of darkness, the empty tomb declared Christ's victory, and today King Jesus reigns over every visible and invisible authority.

In this episode, we unpack three truths that bring confidence in the middle of spiritual warfare:

• The Battle Is Real — Scripture never tells us to ignore the enemy, but it never tells us to fear him either. We acknowledge the battle while fixing our eyes on the Victor. 
• The Enemy Has Limits — Satan can tempt, accuse, and oppose God's people, but he cannot rewrite God's promises or overturn Christ's finished work. 
• Jesus Reigns Over All — Our security doesn't depend on our ability to outsmart the enemy. It rests on the King who already conquered sin, death, and the powers of darkness. 

The Gospel reminds us that what looked like Satan's greatest victory at the cross became his greatest defeat. Jesus triumphed over every ruler and authority, and His resurrection forever declared that no power in the unseen world can overcome the love of God for those who belong to Christ.

Ask Yourself

•  Am I magnifying the enemy more than I'm magnifying Christ? 
•  Where have I been living in fear instead of standing in Christ's victory? 
•  What would change if I truly believed Jesus is reigning over every battle I face? 

The battle is real.

The Invisible War

war. So Romans chapter 8, verse 38. Once again, for I'm persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers. So let's be honest, some of our biggest fears aren't about what we can see, they're about what we can't see. Why did this temptation hit me out of nowhere?

Why the Unseen Battle Feels So Real

Why does it feel like I'm constantly under attack? Is the enemy winning? Can Satan ruin God's plan for my life? Can evil somehow overpower God's goodness? And Paul knew believers would wrestle with those questions. So in one sentence, he destroys every one of them. He says, neither angel angels nor rulers nor powers. So listen, he says none of those things. In other words, no spiritual being, no demonic force, no unseen power can separate you from the love of God in Christ Jesus. The battle is real, but so is the assurance and victory of Jesus. See, Paul has already talked about death, life, the present, the future, and how he moves from the unseen world. He moves to the into the unseen world. And the first century church understood spiritual warfare, idolatry, demonic oppression, persecution, false religion, things we're noticing today in today's world. And Paul isn't pretending evil doesn't exist, he's reminding believers that evil has limits.

The Enemy Is Real But Is Not Ultimate

The enemy is real, but listen, he is not ultimate. Paul says, neither angels nor rulers nor powers. The word translated rulers often refers to spiritual rulers

or authorities. The word powers speaks of spiritual powers or mighty forces. And Paul intentionally gathers every category of spiritual authority he can think of and then says, none of them, not one, has enough authority to separate a believer from Christ. Notice Paul doesn't tell believers to fear these powers. He tells believers to remember who reigns over them. The devil might oppose you, but he cannot own you. No spiritual force is greater than the Savior who holds you. Here's

Point 1: The Battle Is Real

number one out of three points. Number one, the battle is real. The Bible never tells us to pretend spiritual warfare doesn't exist. Temptation is real. The enemy's real. There's a battle for truth, holiness in your mind and your family. And Peter says our enemy prowls like a roaring lion. Paul says we wrestle against spiritual forces. Ignoring the battle doesn't make it disappear. Hear that, Christians. Wake up. Ignoring the battle does not make it disappear. But obsessing over it doesn't help either. The Bible acknowledges the battle while pointing us to the victor. I talk to Christians sometimes in restaurants, and people are like, oh my gosh, when it gets so bad, we're gonna make sure that we huddle with our people so that we can go bunker down and hunker down. And I'm like, bro, Jesus literally said, we're gonna prevail over the gates of hell and you're running for your life. Listen, the by the battle is real, but we have a victor. You don't honor Jesus by pretending the enemy isn't real. You honor Jesus by remembering the enemy isn't equal to him. Number

Point 2: The Enemy Has Limits

two, the enemy has limits. The devil is not God's equal. He is a created being. He cannot be everywhere, know everything, or control everything. He cannot rewrite God's promises, overturn Christ's victory, or snatch you out of the Father's hand. Sometimes we give Satan too much, far too much credit. shepherd who laid down his life is still guarding his sheep. So listen, when temptation comes, guess what? Jesus is greater. When accusation comes, Jesus is better and greater. When fear comes, Jesus is greater. When darkness seems overwhelming, Jesus is greater. When you don't understand what's happening, Jesus is still on the throne. You don't fight for victory over darkness, you fight from the victory of the king who already conquered darkness. So at the cross, it looked like darkness had won. But what looked like defeat became the greatest victory in history.

The devil may tempt you, the world may oppose you, darkness may surround you, but none of it has the authority to separate you from the love of Christ. So lift your eyes off the battle and back onto the throne. Paul searched the unseen world and crossed every ruler, every power, every spiritual authority off the list, authority off the list.
